Since we reported in the last Insight about our new USA branch in Richmond, capital of Virginia, we would now like to introduce you to our experienced crew with their service portfolios and "specialties".
From the new location in Richmond, similar to Miami, all logistics services are offered nationwide in the USA. However, since the office has three customs brokers, the branch office's core competence clearly lies in this area.
"In contrast to the rest of the world, customs clearance in the USA is still a very complicated field that requires special knowledge," says MBS Managing Director Harald Oechsner. "Without Customs Brokers, who take care of the professional preparation and processing of import documents, nothing will move in the United States," explains Oechsner.
The broker prepares documents for official government agencies such as the U.S. Food or Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and/or the Fish and Wildlife Service, thus ensuring that the conditions for the release of shipments and goods are met".
"Customs brokers must be familiar with the Customs Tariff Schedule, product specific legal and regulatory requirements for imports, trade agreements, and other trade-related matters. They often must advise an importer on everything from labelling requirements of the country of origin to documentation requirements. With the MBS staff’s extensive expertise in this field, we help to avoid costly delays, confiscation of goods, as well as fines and penalties against the importer and/ or broker", Oechsner advises.
