Current Situation in the Middle East: Impact on Air- and Seafreight
Air freight movements via the regional hubs of Dubai, Doha and Bahrain, served by MBS consolidation services, are currently affected. Flight cancellations, rerouting and reduced connectivity between major trade lanes are already impacting schedules. Delays across international air freight flows are expected, and extended transit times should be anticipated.
On the ocean freight side, container shipping is also facing adjustments. Carriers are reviewing routing options and operational schedules in response to the situation in the Gulf region. Liner services have once again shifted to routing via the Cape of Good Hope rather than transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Subject to further developments, this may lead to additional schedule changes, potential congestion and extended transit times on selected trade lanes.
Our teams are closely monitoring developments and remain in close coordination with airline and carrier partners to secure alternative routing solutions wherever necessary.
If you have shipments to or from the region, we recommend contacting your usual MBS representative for proactive planning and coordination.
